The Forgotten War: Korea
The Forgotten War: Korea
On June 25, 1950, 75,000 soldiers from the North Korean People’s Army poured across the 38th parallel into South Korea capturing Seoul & Kimpo Airfield in a push south to capture the Port of Pusan, and reunite the Korean peninsula.
Unprepared and poorly equipped reactionary US and United Nations forces were formed from occupation units stationed in Japan to slow the advance of the NKPA until additional military equipment and personal could be brought in at the Port of Pusan.
MacArthur’s brilliant invasion at Inchon, which split the NKPA and changed the tempo of the war in favor of the UN forces, as well as subsequent actions and battles, will be discussed along with the Chinese intervention at the Yalu River.
